The implementation of
Daylight Savings Time brought the usual overall decline in viewership,
but overall, the networks held up really well compared to last season.
CBS was basically flat despite the NCAA finals not paning out (compared
to last year), while Fox was second, continuing to show huge growth
with "House" setting another series high, despite "Idol" hitting a
Tuesday season low. Retention for "House" was 79% in viewers and 80% in
adults, making it far and away the most successful post-"Idol" series
ever. NBC was third and showed more growth over last year thanks in
large part to "Deal or No Deal" (hello, "Millionaire." Don't overdo it,
peacock), while ABC was a lackluster fourth, drawing less than 5
million viewers on Tuesday and Saturday. On the soon to be CW, the WB
won over the UPN, but it had to have almost all of its series in
originals to do it. Yes, it was way past time to combine these two
clunkers.
